Benefits
What are the benefits of a breakfast club?
Of course, making sure children get a good, healthy breakfast is enough reason to have a breakfast club in itself. But these clubs often reach beyond the simple provision of breakfast. Vulnerable children are offered emotional support and staff and volunteers are there to talk to, and to listen. One of the main aims is to teach social skills, manners and good citizenship.
Other benefits include:
- improved attendance
- better educational performance due to higher concentration and better behaviour
And as children move up through school and into the workforce, the benefits will be felt throughout the local community.
The help and support of local businesses will be key to the success of the clubs, with opportunities available to support a club at their local school.
