The Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust

Back to founding partners

The Heart of Midlothian Education and Community TrustThe Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust (Scottish Charity SC 037 311) aims to utilise the "Power of Sport" to motivate, educate, and inspire children, young people and adults within our community through a range of innovative and progressive programmes and events.

The Trust has been created to form partnerships, create initiatives and further support current practice that will assist schools, community groups and organisations that work with young people and adults in our community.

We are proud to be working in collaboration with The City of Edinburgh Council, AEGON and partner sponsors to develop a network of Breakfast Clubs across the City.

Alan White, Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust Programme Manager, comments:

"In Scotland, there is an important need for young people to be regularly physically active and in doing so see this lead to healthier lifestyles. We aim to use the Hearts players as role models and develop healthy lifestyle initiatives for schools which should act as an inspirational tool for children and teachers."

"The Breakfast Club project addresses many of the concerns we have surrounding children and healthy eating, the Trust is delighted to be able to share in the development of this project with our partners."

Importance of the Breakfast Club initiative

The Breakfast Club initiative will form the basis of the Trust's commitment to encouraging good health in Scotland's schoolchildren and acknowledges the important relationship between sport and exercise and a balanced diet in the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.

The Trust hopes to encourage local support for every Breakfast Club across the City and is offering interested companies in Edinburgh the opportunity to join our founding partners in assisting with the delivery of a successful and universally rewarding programme.
